When a Daily Shampoo is Not an Option

Woman holding day 7 sign of no shampoo experiment

How to survive a weekend with no shampoo!

Going to a friends cabin for a weekend, a camping trip or maybe a festival weekend . . . sometimes a daily shampoo  just isn’t  practical. Here are some emergency fixes for looking your best despite the limitations we sometimes must endure. Thanks to Cosmopolitan magazine here are some tips from some experts on how to get your hair to go the extra mile.

Bad Hair Day Quick and Easy Hair Styles

  • “Scruffy looks cool! Simply backcomb your current hairstyle to add some texture and tease into a new shape with hairspray.” Michael Douglas, session hair stylist.
  • “Pile on the hair accessories. Not only do they add instant glamour, but the also hide tiered, dirty hair” Andrew Barton, celebrity hairstylist.
  • “A simple headband over long hair teamed with a center parting makes for instant festival chic” Micheal Douglas.
  • “Gently backcomb hair all over with  you fingers. Now pull into a low ponytail and mist with hairspray.” Andrew Barton.

Festival Hair

Marc Trinder, master hairstylist at Charles Worthington, creates your hair diary . . .

  • Day One ~ Enjoy your clean hair! Wash at home with a volumizing shampoo and take time to give yourself a big, bouncy blow-dry.
  • Day Two ~ Spritz dry shampoo into your roots. Tie your hair into a side ponytail, secure with a band and braid the ponytail. This’ll stop you fiddling and making it greasier.
  • Day Three ~ Keep the ponytail but undo the braid and use the texture to create a cool up-do. Backcomb and pin around the band to create an off-center, scruffy bun.

Emergency Fixes For . . .

  • Flat Hair ~ Spritz with a volumizing spray, then push up and back with a pair of sunglasses. When you take them off you’ll have instant bounce.
  • Dodgy Roots ~ Rake hair back with finger, ruffling into a zigzag parting.
  • Kinky Ends ~ Run straighteners just from mid-length to ends.
