Jackie Kennedy, made famous the “pill box hat” back in the early 60’s. Or, should I say, the “pill box hat” turned Jackie Kennedy into a most regal fashionista to be admired and copied. Did Jackie Kennedy know that daring to wear a unique hat, would give birth to her legacy as this elegant woman of styleDaring to wear a unique hat, would give birth to her legacy as this elegant woman of style? Her elegance and dignified manner came from her upbringing and her style was observed to blossom in her years as first lady. Her “pill box hat,” and sleeveless shifts became her trademark.
Her bouffant hairstyle started showing up on women all over the world. And, even though not all were singing praises of the “pill box hat,” that stood on top of this bouffant hairstyle, they did take notice and tried to emulate all they could of Jackie’s style.
The Martin Scorsese documentary, “No Direction Home,” on Bob Dylans development growing up in my home state of Minnesota, shows his transformation as a musical expositionary. It also contained his song, “Lepoard-Skin Pill-Box Hat.” He wrote this song in 66’ at the time Jackie Kennedy had made the hat famous.

just a correction. the song was not just about jackie kennedy but also about edie sedgwick. Edie ACTUALLY wore the leopard skin pill box hat he talks about. Seeing as Bob Dylan had close ties with her, it is more likely he wrote the song about Edie.

Well its not really saying he wrote it about Jackie, it just says he wrote it at the time Jackie Kennedy was wearing pill box hats. I think he wrote it about Edie too though.
