High School Yearbooks Are a Great Source For Ideas on Retro Hair Styles

Next time you visit grandma, ask her if she still has her high school yearbook. You will at the very least have lots of fun seeing some great retro hair styles, and who knows maybe you find a style that is a real knockout and just right for you.

On a recent family get together I noticed a high school yearbook on the book shelf at the home of our relative. It was from the graduating class of 1936. What a treat, the females at the outing all gathered around and we had great fun looking at hair styles. Somebody made the comment about how we have lost a lot of creativity from those days of spit curls. If you visit a high school you’re likely to see about 85% of the hair styles being long and straight.

The other observation we made was that many of those girls from the yearbook were wearing a hair style that would be a knock-out today. Finger waves for an example, they are hot in Hollywood. The celebrity hair stylists are getting some big fees, for a very simple procedure.

One of my custom virtual hair style makeover clients on a recent counseling call asked about the finger wave, I told her with a little practice she could create this look at home.
