Sales must be down for Des Moines hairstylist

Barbie Makeover image

They obviously have too much time on their hands

From the Des Moines register, I find this curious article. I don’t know who comes away looking more foolish, the newspaper for running this really stupid attempt at journalism, or the Des Moines hairstylist who participated.

They are obviously are so media attention hungry that they are willing to participate in this project that clearly flopped.

Would any of the photos in this article want you to track down the stylist. I think this whole thing backfired.

What do you think?

Stylists give Barbie a makeover

Even Barbie can use a style update. We asked six local salons to show their style by taking scissors, hairspray and color to the miniature dolls.

AMBER HATHAWAY-JASA
Age: 27
Salon: Salon Bliss

What she did: Blonde and black hair extensions added inches to this Bratz doll’s mane. Jasa used miniature foam and paper structures to wrap the original hair and glued-in extensions into beehive-like shapes. The printed silk flowers are made from twisted fabric pieces that were part of the doll’s original mini skirt. Jasa pieced together a swatch of denim from an old pair of jeans for a new skirt.

LALA BAHTIJAREVIC
Age: 27
Salon: Estilo

What she did: Bahtijarevic and fellow stylist Cindy Landa separated chunks of the hair into large and small braids that were twisted into an updo secured with bobby pins and glue. They used a glue gun to add one blonde extension to Barbie’s original hair. Rhinestones and a butterfly clip added sparkle to the creation.
