Custom Virtual Hairstyles
Why custom virtual hairstyles make sense
Hairstyle frustration . . . it’s a universal problem for women. How your hair looks affects your self image, how you are viewed by others and contributes a great deal to your overall happiness in life. When I was starting out as a new hairdresser 28 years ago, I wanted desperately to make a difference in the lives of my clients. It seemed so easy: just give them the hairstyles they wanted and everyone would be happy. I was confident I had the technical skills to be one of the top hairdressers in the industry. Naturally, I wondered why weren’t some of my clients coming back?“Hairstyles Virtual Hairstyles”
One day, it hit me—the hairstyle the client thought she was describing and the hair I was seeing, could easily be two entirely different hair styles. I finally realized that language was the culprit. When the client said “I want short hair”, to me short meant above the ears. However, to her it meant a chin length hairstyle. Most new hairdressers go through a similar experience early in their careers and learn to iron out differences in language and communication with clients.
As my hair styling experience grew, an even bigger problem became evident. This one didn’t have an easy solution. Sometimes I understood very clearly what hairstyle the client was asking for, but knew it would look terrible on her. Women don’t always see their own hair objectively or know what will work best with their hair type and face shape. But, with only 30 minutes to spend with each client, it was impossible to talk her out of the bad hairstyle and into another more flattering style and stay on time for my next appointment. It is a very common lose-lose situation for both hairdresser and client.
For years, I struggled with these issues as a hairdresser. Then, one day while I was attending a hair styling show, I stumbled on a booth with computers that would take the image of a person and superimpose hundreds of different hairstyles. The software was used for creating customized virtual hairstyles. You could see the results of a desired hairstyle in advance! Finally, there was a way to truly make a difference in my clients’ lives! 18,000 clients later and I have never regretted my decision to use the virtual hairstyles technology. But now its time for me to retire and let those who have figured out how to do virtual hairstyles for free take over the reigns. I know some of you will be disappointed that I’m no longer offering customized virtual hairstyles, but Deb Peitso has written a great guest post article on Hairstyle Blog: Face in Hole Hairstyle Site Reviews that gives you plenty of options for taking advantage of virtual hairstyles technology.
